Home Science is a dynamic and evergrowing inlife science education. It is an applied field built upon the discipline of science and humanities for the purpose of achieving the welfare and wellbeing of the family in an ever changing society.
The Center for Advanced Faculty Training in Home Science in PJTSAU, Hyderabad, is the only centre of its kind in India to disseminate knowledge and technical skill in Home Science education to the faculty members of Home Science in SAU’s and ICAR Institutions. In view of outstanding quality of work being carried out by the department of Foods & Nutrition, it was elevated to the status of Centre of Advanced Studies (CAS) by ICAR in 1994. It is first of its kind in Home Science in all the State Agricultural Universities (SAU) in India
The department of Foods and nutrition is one of the major departments in the Faculty of Home Science under the Professer Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University. Besides being strong in the area of teaching,the department has developed a sound research and extension base making them an integral part of its activities. In outstanding quality of work carried out by the department.
The department of Apparel & Textiles offers certificate courses for those interested to become entrepreneurs. These are skilled oriented courses designed for short term such as tie – dye, Batik, Tie-Dye and Block printing, Fabric Painting, hand Embroidery and computer Aided Apparel designing.
The faculty members of the department are all doctorate and trained in India and abroad in the areas of life span human development, family studies, women’s studies and developmental assessment of normal and special children. The academic functions of the department are to train students to be child care professionals, developmental specialists, intervention specialist, child and family counselors, programme executives in developmental projects.
Resource Management and Consumer Sciences is one of the major departments in the in the Faculty of Home Science, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University. The department was established in the year 1964 and has grown into strong discipline by expanding its activities in multi-dimensions. In keeping with the mandate of Agricultural Universities, the department’s activities encompass Teaching, Research and Extension.
Village adoption is one of the activities mandatory of ANGRAU. For every three years, a new village will be selected.
Department coordinated with all the other four departments in planning and organizing programmes under village adoption.
The clientele group included children of all age groups, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating mothers, SHGs and women entrepreneurs.
